SoberPath

From an idea to an Apple app.

I independently conceived, designed and built SoberPath, a non-clinical recovery companion for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. I took the product from its first idea through architecture, development and App Store release under my studio, Monado.

The challenge

Build a calm, useful companion for people changing their relationship with alcohol. Daily check-ins, reflection, AI conversation and practical support needed to work together without making the experience feel like a wall of tracking tools.

The engineering challenge was just as important: sensitive information, AI capability that varies by device, several Apple platforms and a paid membership all had to fit into one understandable product.

What I built

I owned the complete delivery: product concept, user experience, visual design, architecture, native development, the public website and App Store release.

  • A native experience across Apple devices

SwiftUI interfaces for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, with check-ins, progress, reflection and practical support. Widgets and watch surfaces use discreet wording for places where other people may see them.

  • Data controls as part of the product

SwiftData storage and private CloudKit sync, with no custom SoberPath account required. Users can export or delete their information, and choose whether to use AI Memory and conversation-history sync.

  • AI with clear boundaries

Companion uses Apple models on-device or through Private Cloud Compute when available. Processing depends on device capabilities and settings; conversations follow non-clinical support boundaries.

  • Subscriptions that respect existing information

StoreKit membership is integrated with the app’s access rules. When membership ends, existing records remain viewable, and export, deletion and urgent-help information remain available.

The result

SoberPath is published on the App Store by Monado Limited for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. It brings daily check-ins, progress, AI conversation and practical support together in a product I designed and delivered independently.

It is an example of the responsibility I can bring to a contract: connect product decisions with implementation, handle the details across platforms, and carry the work through release.
